Come join the Coaching team at Houston’s first and only running studio located in Sawyer Heights. We are now hiring Running Class Coaches to contribute to a community-driven, high-energy, ultra-fun studio experience. You will not only bring the energy, but you ARE the energy and one of the main reasons our runners will keep coming back.

Here’s what you’ll need to have:

Past instruction experience (preferably in fitness)

You will be teaching. Which means you need to be able to command a room full of people and lead them, covering -everything from how to run to using the treadmill to form correction. We’ll want to make sure you speak clearly, have patience, understand basic teaching principles and can multi-task (speaking, adjusting music, demonstrating, helping runners, managing the lights, etc)

The ability to “perform” with personality

You either have it or you don’t, but it’s critical. CRITICAL, to our programming and to our runners. There is really no such thing as being too enthusiastic and our platform will be your stage to educate, motivate, and inspire our runfam. You are curious about our runners and what their goals are, you seek to get to know them by name, and you are there to help them through their journey

An ear and understanding of music

When it comes to running, setting a pace to a beat is what it’s all about. You should be familiar with syncing rhythms and tempos to varied-paced (intensity) intervals effectively. We know that creating killer playlists that also have a programming component takes time and effort, but that’s what keeps our runners coming back and it’s a non-negotiable element of the RacePace experience.

Professionalism and “ownership”

You’re going to need to show up to class on time, be responsive, come to meetings when necessary, and find substitutes when you can’t make it to class. We expect you to be courteous to EVERYONE — fellow staff and customers.

You should feel “ownership” of your classes. Putting in your effort to fill them and make them the best they can be. You’ll not only representing your own brand, but you’ll be representing RacePace as well and we’ll want you to be proud of that and shout it from the rooftops. You aren’t just clocking in and clocking out, we want you to feel integrally connected to the business and we want to hear your ideas, suggestions and observations.

Running experience and knowledge

This seems obvious, but we want to add some color to it. You don’t need to be running at an elite level to be a RacePace coach, but we do expect you to love running and have significant experience in it. Knowledge of: training philosophy, training programs, pacing, racing strategies, injury prevention, recovery and more are important to this role and being able to bring those to class (and your daily interactions) every day is essential.

Class times and compensation will be discussed during our initial conversations, but you will need to have a flexible schedule as classes are typically held in mornings and evenings, weekends/weekdays.  If you think you’ve got what it takes, you can send your resume and cover letter to
